Manufacturing Engineer
Summary:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading a variety of projects aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and product quality. This role includes developing new product lines, resolving production issues, ensuring process consistency, and maintaining product specifications. The Manufacturing Engineer also utilizes Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) equipment, along with automatic and semi-automatic machinery, to perform precise calculations and accurately cut materials according to design requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead work-flow improvements through lean manufacturing methods.
- Mentor production personnel in the principals of 5S and lean manufacturing concepts.
- Plan facility layouts to optimize workflow and develop proper set-up techniques.
- Collaborate with Lead Hands and those in support functions to improve fabrication and assembly processes.
- Develop, procure, justify, and validate tooling, fixtures, capital equipment, and automation.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to increase the manufacturability of our products.
- Develop production standards and perform time studies.
- Recommend methods for improving efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- Review 3D CAD design blueprints.
- Assist in making accurate calculations for programming, including where materials should be cut.
- Translate instructions into a computer automated manufacturing program (CAM).
- Assist in writing programs and modifying existing ones to increase efficiency.
- Analyze and select speeds for programs.
- As part of the AROW Global team you will need to understand the AROW Business System policy and objectives and how you affect conformance to them.
- Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs with an emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with Solid Works 3D CAD modeling are considered assets.
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal communication skills required to communicate with manufacturing personnel, customers', and suppliers.
- Excellent writing skills to publish reports, work instructions, and company procedures.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (
