CNC Programmer Position Summary
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, manual programming, and machine controllers. This role supports machining operations by developing efficient cutter paths, selecting tooling and fixtures, performing program prove-outs, and ensuring machined parts meet quality specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Create and edit CNC programs for a variety of machines and controllers
- Utilize CAD/CAM software and manual G-code programming
- Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
- Select tooling, fixtures, feeds, and speeds for machining operations
- Perform program prove-outs, machine setup support, and process improvements
- Conduct program comparisons and maintain programming documentation
- Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to improve efficiency and quality
- Support operators and provide setup guidance as needed
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate degree or technical training preferred
- Experience with CNC programming and machining processes
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and G-code programming
- Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, and height stands
- CMM experience is a plus
