Position Summary The Welder is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of precision metal components used in the manufacture of large industrial equipment. This position performs layout, fit-up, welding, finishing, inspection, and repair of fabricated assemblies while ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
The role requires proficiency in multiple welding processes, operation of fabrication equipment, interpretation of technical drawings, and safe use of overhead lifting equipment and industrial tools. Successful candidates demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality, craftsmanship, continuous learning, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards. Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas in accordance with established workplace organization (5S) practices. Collaborate effectively with supervisors, team members, engineering, quality, planning, environmental health and safety, and other support functions. Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, technical specifications, bills of materials, and work instructions.
Perform work assignments based on written and verbal instructions. Complete contamination control, inspection, and cleanliness procedures, including equipment cleaning and work area maintenance. Set up, fit, align, tack, weld, and finish fabricated assemblies according to engineering specifications and quality requirements. Operate welding equipment using approved procedures and qualified welding processes. Load, position, and secure materials and components using fixtures, weld tables, cranes, and other lifting devices.
Perform fabrication activities including measuring, marking, grinding, cutting, and finishing components. Verify dimensions, tolerances, weld quality, and assembly accuracy using calibrated measuring instruments and in-process inspection methods. Conduct visual inspections of completed weldments and complete required quality documentation. Repair weld defects and perform rework as required to meet quality standards. Perform routine maintenance of welding equipment and tooling and report equipment issues through established maintenance procedures.
Assist in training new team members on safe work practices, welding procedures, and departmental processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and process efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills. Proficiency with common fabrication and welding tools, including grinders, sanders, plasma cutting equipment, oxy-fuel cutting equipment, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and other powered industrial equipment is preferred. Working knowledge of multiple welding processes, including: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) Stud Welding Ability to safely handle materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and other industrial metals. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, fabrication prints, and technical documentation.

Ability to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production requirements. Commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Education and Experience Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred
Previous welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, heavy industrial, or heavy equipment environment. Completion of a welding certification program, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
