CNC Machinist
The CNC Machinist, also known as CNC Operator or CNC Programmer, is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components in a manufacturing environment. This role supports production efficiency by maintaining tight tolerances, ensuring quality standards, and troubleshooting machining processes during second shift operations.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate CNC machines including mills and lathes to meet production targets
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Make programming adjustments and tool offsets to maintain dimensional tolerances
- Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment
- Monitor production output and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Technical certificate in machining or equivalent hands-on CNC experience
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances
- Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, and lifting
- Ability to meet production deadlines and work overtime as needed
Desired
Qualifications:
- Experience with CNC programming, including G-code editing and optimization
- Familiarity with multi-axis machining or advanced CNC equipment
- Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
