Senior Manufacturing Engineer

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) and detailed work instructions to support new and existing fabrication processes. This role is highly hands-on and focuses on optimizing manufacturing operations, integrating new fabrication equipment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create clear, detailed, and compliant standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for fabrication processes and production activities.
  • Work hands-on with new and existing fabrication equipment to understand capabilities, define operating parameters, and ensure safe and efficient use.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, and consistency in fabrication operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the introduction and commissioning of new fabrication equipment.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to identify waste, streamline workflows, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on process optimization and productivity gains.
  • Contribute to capital expenditure (Capex) projects related to fabrication equipment, including technical input on equipment selection and process requirements.
  • Ensure that all work instructions and SOPs are kept current, accurately reflect shop-floor practices, and are easily understood by production personnel.
  • Troubleshoot fabrication process issues and implement corrective actions to maintain stable and reliable operations.
  • Support training of production staff on new SOPs, work instructions, and proper use of fabrication equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience creating SOPs and detailed work instructions for manufacturing or fabrication environments.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working around fabrication processes and fabrication equipment.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with capital expenditure (Capex) activities related to manufacturing or fabrication equipment.
  • Strong background in manufacturing engineering with a focus on fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in developing and documenting manufacturing processes in a clear and structured manner.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to work directly with fabrication equipment on the production floor.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing principles to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Demonstrated involvement in continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving fabrication process issues.
  • Attention to detail in creating accurate and user-friendly SOPs and work instructions.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and documentation tasks simultaneously.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility environment and involves a contract-to-hire arrangement. The engineer works primarily on the production floor, closely interacting with fabrication equipment and manufacturing processes. The setting includes new and existing fabrication machinery, with a focus on hands-on engagement, process optimization, and continuous improvement activities. Work is performed in a typical fabrication and manufacturing area, where appropriate safety practices and attire are expected in line with facility standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eagle, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
