Overview

Requisition . Salm Partners is a manufacturing company focused on premium, ready-to-eat sausages and hot dogs. The organization has two production plants and partners in Denmark, WI. This role supports Rapid Pak packaging operations and adherence to safety, food safety, quality standards, SQF, GMP, and USDA requirements.

Position Summary

1st Shift 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday – Friday;
Saturdays as needed. 2nd Shift 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday;
Saturdays as needed. 3rd Shift 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Sunday – Monday;
Fridays as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Verify product specifications using Operational Parameters and standard work check sheets.
  • Remove material from previous production run and prepare the area with labels and film for the next run.
  • Set up the Rapid Pak packaging machine line per product specifications in the Operational Parameters.
  • Adjust pocket size, temperature and vacuum settings, trim knives, code date, label placement, film, and film registration.
  • Verify code dates are correct and in the proper format prior to the production run.
  • Secure start-up verification of setup and code date with the Facilitator or QA representative as required.
  • Complete Perfect Package checks to ensure quality packages.
  • Monitor quality concerns during production and make equipment adjustments to maintain high-quality packages.
  • Conduct time, temperature, and weight checks per established procedures.
  • Take hourly HACCP temperatures and record data in the HACCP Log.
  • Periodically check for leakers and low vacuum packages; adjust the process to address deviations.
  • Coordinate with Case Pack to address unacceptable packages and implement equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate production quality issues with appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Rapid Pak Line Workers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor rework product to ensure it does not remain on the production floor beyond the permissible time.
  • Assist Production Stagers with MAS 500 system inventory discrepancies related to packaging materials.
  • Disassemble packaging machinery for sanitation at changeover, mid-week, and end-of-week sanitation.
  • Perform sanitation duties including sweeping, mopping, wiping equipment, cleaning belts and conveyors, washing parts and walls, and disposing of waste.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
  • Provide backup assistance across the packaging line as necessary and perform other duties as assigned.
Education
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent; minimum of 6 months experience as a Backup Rapid Pak Operator. Certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred. Previous experience operating packaging equipment also strongly preferred.
Experience
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing conditions (heat, cold, wet) and have strong mechanical aptitude. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions.

  • Physical Demands: standing for long periods; frequent walking; use of hands; lifting up to 40 lb regularly and up to 50 lb occasionally; vision requirements include close, color, and depth perception.
  • Work Environment: varying temperatures (approx. 35°F to 100°F); wet and slippery floors; PPE including composite-toed footwear, frocks, hairnets, hearing protection, gloves, goggles, face shields, rain suits, and rubber boots as needed.
