Speciality Door Lead Associate
The Speciality Door Lead Associate is responsible for leading daily production activities while performing hands-on manufacturing and assembly work. This role supports production operations by coordinating workflow, assisting with complex production tasks, maintaining quality standards, and providing guidance and training to team members. The Lead Production Associate serves as a technical resource on the production floor and works closely with supervisors to ensure production goals, safety standards, and customer commitments are achieved.
Depending on the business unit, this role may support manufacturing of doors, millwork, roof trusses, wall panels, or other building components.
Production Leadership- Coordinate daily workflow and assist in assigning production tasks to team members
- Lead by example while performing hands-on production and assembly work
- Monitor production schedules and help ensure daily production goals are achieved
- Assist supervisors with prioritizing work and balancing workloads
- Troubleshoot production issues and communicate solutions to supervisors and support teams
- Adapt production priorities to meet changing customer and operational needs
- Assemble and manufacture building products according to work orders, engineering drawings, and production specifications
- Read and interpret blueprints, machining templates, work orders, and production documentation
- Operate production machinery, saws, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other manufacturing equipment safely
- Verify measurements and specifications using tape measures and other measuring devices
- Perform product setup, adjustments, and assembly for standard and specialty products as required
- Monitor production quality throughout the manufacturing process
- Inspect completed products to verify compliance with company quality standards
- Identify production defects or material concerns and implement corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, efficiency, and product quality
- Train, mentor, and support Production Associates on equipment, processes, and quality expectations
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development
- Serve as a technical resource for production employees
- Encourage safe work practices and reinforce company standards
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and PPE requirements
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and work areas
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient production work spaces
- Report equipment issues, material shortages, and safety concerns promptly
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What you'll bring:
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
- Mechanical aptitude and experience operating manufacturing equipment
- Ability to read production drawings, machining templates, blueprints, and work orders
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Experience in manufacturing, millwork, woodworking, door production, truss manufacturing, or related production environments
- Previous team lead or production leadership experience
- Experience operating saws, routers, drills, pneumatic tools, and production equipment
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
- Experience producing custom or specialty building products preferred
- Work is performed in manufacturing and production environments
- Exposure to machinery, dust, noise, vibration, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds; heavier materials require team lifting or mechanical assistance
- Frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to support production demands
- Occasional travel between facilities or customer sites may be required depending on business unit needs
