CNC Setup Operator

Saelens Corporation, under its Diamond Precision brand, is seeking a CNC Setup Operator to support our Manufacturing & Production team. In this role, you will set up, adjust, and prove out CNC lathes and mills for short- and long-run jobs, interpreting blueprints and using precision measuring tools to verify tight tolerances. You'll select tooling, load programs, and optimize speeds and feeds for quality and throughput.

The CNC Setup Operator will troubleshoot machining issues, perform basic offsets, and partner with operators to ensure consistent, safe, and efficient production. Join a collaborative, continuous-improvement culture focused on precision engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and prove out CNC lathes and mills for production runs
• Interpret blueprints, job travelers, and GD&T requirements
• Select and install tooling, work holding, and fixtures
• Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs and offsets
• Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring tools
• Troubleshoot and correct machining and dimensional issues
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on machines and tooling
• Collaborate with operators and engineers to improve processes, quality, and throughput
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and documentation standards

Required Skills

• CNC machine setup (lathes and mills)
• Blueprint and GD&T interpretation
• Use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• G-code understanding and program loading
