Purpose of Position:

Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Canning Crew leader.

The Canning Crew leader provides frontline operational and technical leadership within the Canning Department to support safe, reliable, and efficient production. This position performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair of canning equipment while providing day-to-day work direction and training to seasonal employees. The role is responsible for supporting equipment reliability, maintaining product flow, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with established safety, food safety, quality, Product Certification, and operational requirements.

Performance is measured through safe work execution, equipment reliability and uptime, timely response to mechanical issues, product quality, adherence to production requirements, and effective coordination and training of assigned employees.

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

• Perform skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair of canning room machinery and equipment.
• Maintain and repair seamers, fillers, crate loaders, slicers, seed reels, add-water systems, and associated canning equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical equipment issues and complete appropriate repairs or adjustments to restore proper operation.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities as assigned to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Inspect equipment condition and identify developing mechanical issues before they result in equipment failure or production interruption.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and torch-cutting equipment as required.
• Apply working knowledge of mechanical, basic electrical, and hydraulic systems when troubleshooting equipment.
• Support equipment setup, adjustment, changeover, startup, and shutdown activities as required.
• Communicate significant equipment conditions, repair needs, and recurring issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.

Canning Operations & Production Support

• Monitor canning equipment and operating conditions to maintain safe and efficient product flow.
• Respond to equipment issues and production interruptions and coordinate corrective action within the scope of the position.
• Work closely with production, maintenance, Quality, and other plant personnel to minimize downtime and maintain operational requirements.
