Healthcare Nursing, Nurse Practitioner
The Nurse Practitioner will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage the healthcare needs of incarcerated individuals within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The NP will provide evidence‑based medical care, promote wellness, manage chronic conditions, and coordinate treatment plans while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and healthcare standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic testing.
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols.
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans.
Monitor and manage chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and other ongoing conditions.
Provide preventive healthcare, wellness counseling, and patient education.
Respond to urgent medical situations and collaborate with onsite healthcare staff to ensure appropriate patient care.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
Current Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Wisconsin (or ability to obtain prior to start).
Current BLS certification.
Minimum one (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience.
PreferredExperience in primary care, family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, occupational health, or correctional healthcare.
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience serving diverse and underserved populations.
