Position Title
Charge RN - Surgical Services
LocationUpland Hills Health - Dodgeville Hospital Campus
Role & DepartmentCharge Registered Nurse in the Surgical Services Department
Hours & ShiftPart-time (.8 FTE), Day Shift Position, Included in RN call rotation
Role Responsibilities- Fully oriented to the surgical/perioperative RN role with the ability to manage a full patient assignment as census and acuity necessitate
- Regularly involved in coordination of surgical admissions, discharges, scheduling, and patient education across Ambulatory Surgery, Endoscopy, and Inpatient Surgical services
- Assists the Director of Surgical Services with communication between staff, physicians, and ancillary departments
- Supports quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and efficient surgical flow
- Participates in staff education, orientation of new employees, and cross-training of team members
- Contributes to performance evaluations, policy review, and other departmental responsibilities as assigned
- Monitors patient, staff, and provider activities throughout the shift, prioritizing needs to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Coordinates surgical cases (emergent and non-emergent) and facilitates communication across departments to support continuity of care
- Promotes a positive work environment, supporting staff engagement and effective team collaboration
- Functions in a multidisciplinary manner, participating in rounds, surgical coordination, and departmental initiatives
- Participates in quality improvement, council activities, and organizational planning as requested
- Reports to the Director of Surgical Services, who may adjust duties to best meet departmental needs
- Graduate from a school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, but not required
- Clinical (acute care) nursing experience of at least two years
- Current BLS certification.
- Previous experience using the EPIC medical record system is preferred
