SummaryUnder general supervision of the Parks Program Assistant, assists in the daily functions of the Parks Department. Performs varied office, program, and concessions work involving some independent judgment and initiative. Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists in the operation of the concession stand and nature center.
- Performs a variety of building custodial activities.
- Assists in office duties including telephone and reception; maintaining records, registering park users, preparing reports and completing forms; and photocopying documents.
- Gives information regarding departmental activities or policies in response to telephone inquiries or personal visitations.
- Handles large amounts of cash and balances out cash register at the end of the shift.
- Rents tubes, snowshoes, and cross-country skis during the winter season.
- Assists the Parks Program Assistant as needed.

Education and/or ExperienceSome responsible office and/or store merchandising experience and cash handling experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, the public, and other employees of the County.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software.
