Not just a ‘Paint and Flag’ service, we deliver locating and inspection expertise beyond traditional utility location. We protect our customers’ utilities 24/7, 365 days a year. Since then, we have expanded into sewer imaging, inspection, and locating sewer mains/laterals using the latest technology available.

We also perform inspection work/services on utility projects throughout the United States.

Position

Utility Locator

Job Summary
  • Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners based on 811 tickets and 811 dig laws.
  • Use utility maps, as‑built civil engineering drawings, GIS information, and various pipe and electronic locating equipment.
  • Utilize flags and/or paint to mark the location of underground utilities.
  • Prepare various reports, forms, and memos to document work completed, problems encountered, and/or resolved.
  • Take pictures of utility lines located for each 811 ticket.
  • Investigate and document excavations that result in damage to underground utilities.
  • Use a cell‑phone based app to record locating marks, photos, and complete all required documentation.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation.
Job Requirements
  • At least 2 years of locator experience.
  • Know best locate practices, procedures, and 811 law.
  • Read and interpret utility maps and as‑built civil engineering drawings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good operating condition of all provided equipment and vehicle.
  • Maintain a tobacco‑free vehicle.
  • Locate underground utilities using multiple methods.
  • Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Maintain small‑ to medium‑sized equipment and trucks.
  • Complete paperwork and documentation.
  • Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., to convey information and receive work direction.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel (75%+).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Pass a drug screen.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT physical certification.
  • Be available to work varying schedules and overtime.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
