Cement Finisher
We are looking for mid to entry level Cement Finishers to work with our crews building bridges, dams, boat ramps, roads, and boardwalks throughout the State of WI. Work week is Monday through Friday afternoon. $100.00 per day per diem for locations over 30 miles from Janke General Office in Athens WI., Monday through Thursday. We offer company paid health insurance and life insurance.
We also provide disability, dental, vision insurance. Along with a 401K matching percentage. Room for advancement.
The Cement Finisher is responsible for smoothing, leveling, and finishing concrete surfaces. Also will ensure and assist in concrete form work set-up.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Smooth and finish concrete surfaces using the appropriate tools.
- Level and shape freshly poured concrete to ensure proper slope and surface quality.
- Apply surface treatments to concrete as required by the project.
- Monitor the curing process and apply treatments as necessary
- Repair damaged or worn concrete on existing structures
- Adhere to concrete requirements as detailed in the contract documents
- Operate finishing equipment
- Communicate with site supervision to ensure smooth workflow and timely project completion.
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring equipment and tools are properly maintained and stored.
- Report any issues with concrete quality, equipment, or safety concerns to site supervision
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Cement Finisher or similar role in construction
- Strong knowledge of concrete properties, mixing ratios, and finishing techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools such as trowels, floats, screeds, and power trowels.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Understanding of concrete curing processes and surface treatments.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.
