Field Service Technician
The Field Service Technician installs, repairs, and maintains industrial equipment at customer sites across the country. In this role, you troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues, perform final checks before equipment goes into production, and provide clear guidance to customers on machine operation. You split your time between nationwide travel to customer facilities and remote phone support, returning home on weekends.
Responsibilities- Perform repairs and last-minute checks on industrial equipment to ensure reliable operation before and after installation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation issues on packaging machinery and filling machines at customer sites.
- Interface directly with customers to explain equipment problems, recommended solutions, and proper machine operation in a clear and professional manner.
- Travel nationwide to customer locations to perform on-site service, maintenance, and troubleshooting, while returning home on weekends.
- Provide phone support to customers when not on-site, helping diagnose issues and guide them through corrective actions.
- Follow standard procedures and practices required in clean manufacturing environments, including facilities that operate under GMP standards.
- Document service activities, repairs, and findings accurately to support ongoing maintenance and customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with internal teams as needed to resolve complex equipment issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.
- At least 3 years of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
- At least 1 year of automation troubleshooting experience.
- At least 1 year of customer service experience in a technical or field-based role.
- Hands-on experience working with packaging machinery and filling machines.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers in a professional manner.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationwide frequently while returning home on weekends.
- Capability to work safely in manufacturing environments that may include dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and moderate to high noise levels.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous traveling and field service experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with clean manufacturing environments and GMP standards is beneficial.
- Comfort working with new, state-of-the-art industrial equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Reliable transportation to reach local training locations and airports as needed.

WorkEnvironment
You train on-site in a manufacturing facility with a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During training, you work in a clean manufacturing shop that follows standards and procedures similar to those used in food manufacturing, and most customer facilities operate under GMP requirements. The noise level ranges from moderate to high, and you are regularly exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and occasional unpleasant odors, while overall maintaining a clean work environment.
Steel-toed shoes are required, and jeans with a plain t-shirt or polo shirt are appropriate attire. Travel will make up 75% or more of your time, with structured guidelines: for trips under 3 hours you may be reimbursed for travel or rent a car, for trips of 3–6 hours you rent a car, for trips over 6 hours you fly, and for trips over 10 hours with a non-stop flight you travel in business…
