Cool Sys is seeking a Senior Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician to join our Technical & Maintenance team in our HVAC Wholesale environment. In this senior field role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain complex commercial refrigeration and HVAC-R systems for retail, commercial, and industrial customers. You'll lead troubleshooting, perform start-ups, calibrate controls, and optimize energy performance while ensuring safety, code compliance, and reliable uptime.
You'll mentor junior technicians, document service work, and collaborate closely with customers and internal teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and sustainable HVAC-R solutions.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC-R systems, including racks, walk-ins, and display cases.
- Perform system start-ups, tune-ups, and preventive maintenance to maximize reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues using advanced tools and schematics.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and environmental regulations, including proper refrigerant handling.
- Optimize system performance and energy efficiency through control adjustments and component upgrades.
- Lead and mentor junior technicians, providing on-the-job training and technical guidance.
- Communicate findings, repair options, and recommendations clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Accurately document service activities, parts used, and recommendations in service management systems.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
- Collaborate with project, engineering, and dispatch teams to support installations, retrofits, and complex service projects.
