Homme Youth & Family Programs | Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI
Location: Wittenberg, WI
Pay: $18.50/hr (Mon-Fri) * $20.50/hr (Weekends)
Schedule: Fulltime, Summer Only
* 8 AM-10 PM
* Every other weekend required
Housing: Subsidized, onsite dorm housing available

Youth Counselor - What You'll DoAs a Youth Counselor, you'll work directly with residents (primarily males ages 10-15), helping create a safe, therapeutic and structured environment. You'll be a role model, support system, advocate, and trusted adult who helps guide youth toward healing and positive change.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain sight-and-sound supervision at all times
- Support daily routines, structured activities, and therapeutic programming
- Monitor hygiene, living areas, and safety (including contraband checks)
- Document daily observations, behaviors, and incident reports
- Transport youth to appointments, school, and activities
- Assist or supervise during meals
- Update parents, social workers, therapists, and other professionals
- Respond appropriately during crisis situations, including verbal/physical aggression

- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Ability to complete Mandt & CPI training within 90 days
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods and manage moderate physical demands
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, etc.)
- 1+ year of experience in human services, residential care, or working with atrisk youth
- Experience in crisis management, Mandt, or CPI
You'll work in a community-like setting and may be exposed to:
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Moderate noise levels
- Situations requiring crisis response and behavioral intervention
Travel up to 25% may be required, including occasional overnights.
