Substance Use Disorder Counselor – Aspen Center

Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team at Aspen Center in Waukesha County. Aspen Center provides residential substance use treatment for men in a supportive, recovery-focused environment, helping individuals build the skills and confidence needed for lasting recovery.

As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor, you'll provide addiction counseling, case management, assessments, and individualized support to residents working toward their recovery goals. Responsibilities include facilitating individual and group sessions, completing assessments and required documentation, coordinating services, and helping clients access the resources and support they need throughout treatment.

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and passionate about helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve lasting recovery. Candidates must hold a valid SAC-IT or CSAC credential through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).

Schedule:

Full-time, benefits-eligible
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with the potential for some evening hours to facilitate groups

Compensation
  • SAC-IT: Starting at $22.75/hour
  • SAC: Starting at $26.00/hour
  • CSAC: Starting at $28.00/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide addiction counseling and case management services to residents

  • Complete assessments, screenings, diagnostics, referrals, and required documentation

  • Plan and facilitate individual and group counseling sessions

  • Coordinate social, community, mental health, and other supportive services for clients

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, agency, licensing, and contractual requirements

  • Communicate effectively with clients, team members, families, and community partners

  • Participate in staff meetings, clinical supervision, training, and professional development opportunities

  • Build positive working relationships and serve as a positive role model for clients and their families

Qualifications:

  • Valid SAC-IT or CSAC credential through Wisconsin DSPS

  • Working knowledge of substance use disorders, recovery, counseling, and case management principles

  • Ability to provide substance use disorder services to clients and their families

  • Ability to learn and follow federal, state, and local requirements governing the delivery of substance use disorder services

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with the ability to meet LSS driving requirements
