Summary Of Human Service Professional Role
The Human Service Professional supports individuals facing mental health challenges, homelessness, or involvement with the criminal justice system, providing trauma-informed, recovery-focused services in diverse settings such as community centers, shelters, jails, and schools.
Responsibilities include assisting with
- Medicaid and Food Share enrollment
- Social Security, , employment, and housing applications
- Mental health coordination and recovery support
- Life skills, coping strategies, budgeting, and medication management
- Educational support for GED or technical college
- Supporting Comprehensive Community Services (CCS)
They collaborate with clients and teams, maintain accurate documentation, and utilize evidence-based practices to promote independence and stability.
Qualificationsinclude a
- Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Comfort working in community environments and with individuals in crisis
- Proficiency with electronic health records and computer applications
