Description:
This will be a year-round position applicants must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Applicants must be able to pass a railroad physical, background check, pre employment drug test, and random drug testing. Applicants must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week, and overtime when needed typical schedule will Monday through Thursday 4, 10-hour days.
Applicants will be stationed out of Crivitz WI.
- Perform general mechanical work.
- Operate power tools, machinery, heavy equipment and cranes.
- Operate weld machines and cutting torches when applicable.
- Air brake system inspections, test, and repair when applicable.
- Repair Freight car defects in accordance with federal regulations and industry rules.
- Work in a responsible manner.
- To have basic knowledge and understanding of welding requirements to a given scope of work.
- To perform welding applications to required parameters.
- Understand Railroad and Customer maintenance standards.
- Examine records and make inspections of freight cars to determine compliance to applicable standards and scope(s) of work.
- Ensure that the scope of work files are complete before inspecting cars.
- Develop inspection traveler based on scope of work and AAR/FRA requirements.
- Keep records of cars inspected and to be inspected per scope of work.
- Communicate effectively.
- Proper corrective action to be taken in order to bring freight cars into compliance.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Identify and utilize applicable gauges for defects.
- Identify, mark clearly and record defects found.
- Inspect end of car, draft assemblies, trucks, safety appliances, and other areas of car for defects.
