You ll Do
- Get students to and from school safely and on time
- Drive your route confidently in all kinds of weather and traffic
- Create a respectful, safe environment on the bus
- Build great connections with students, parents, and school staff
- Help students who need a little extra assistance getting on or off the bus
- Keep your vehicle clean, fueled, and ready to roll
- Handle daily safety checks and basic maintenance
- Follow all transportation laws, school policies, and route directions
- Check the condition of a vehicle s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure everything is in working order
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi‑passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities
- Keep bus interiors clean for students
- Follow safety rules as students board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops
- Maintain knowledge of first‑aid procedures and maintain order among students during trips to ensure safety
- Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules
- Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, or fuel consumption
- Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions; record bus routes
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two‑way radios
- Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs; regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for student comfort
- Report delinquent student behaviors to school administration
- A Class A or B CDL or the willingness to get one (we ll train you!)
- Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements or the ability to get them
- A clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening
- Great communication skills and a calm, friendly attitude
- Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
- A desire to be a positive influence in your community
- Be at least 21 years old
- Hold a valid WI driver s license with a clean driving record
- Pass a background check
- $1,500 sign‑on bonus
- Paid CDL training; no experience needed
