Are you a hands-on leader who thrives when you own the operation? The DeLong Co. is looking for an experienced Grain Elevator Superintendent to take the helm at one of our grain facilities — someone who can lead a team, keep equipment running, manage grain flow, and drive a culture of safety and efficiency. This is a career-level position with real responsibility, strong benefits, and room to grow.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time salaried position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility outside of peak hours. During harvest season (September through November), hours extend to 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Harvest season overall (September through January) typically runs 65–75 hours per week including some weekends — this is the heartbeat of our operation and when your leadership matters most.

WHY

THE DELONG CO.

We offer a competitive benefits package that reflects how much we value our people:

  • Medical insurance (affordable premiums), plus FREE Dental, Vision, Rx, and Life Insurance
  • 401(k) with company matching
  • FSA and Dependent Care Accounts
  • Short-Term Disability, Voluntary Life, and Voluntary Long-Term Disability
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • A career-driven role with a clear path for advancement in a stable, growing company
WHAT YOU'LL OWN

As Grain Elevator Superintendent, you'll be the leader of the entire facility — from equipment and grain flow to people and profitability. Day to day, you will:

  • Oversee all grain handling equipment, ensuring it's properly maintained, safe, and operationally ready — including rolling stock
  • Lead, supervise, and develop your elevator team — building a crew that performs at a high level year-round
  • Manage all inbound and outbound grain handling, scheduling daily operations from start to finish
  • Train employees to meet state and OSHA safety requirements, including annual fumigation safety training
  • Maintain a rigorous housekeeping and safety standard across the entire facility
  • Onboard and safety-train all contractors who come on site
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally
  • Approve invoices and manage credit card spending with an eye toward profitability
  • Ensure your team has every tool they need to do the job safely and effectively
WHAT YOU BRING

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience — you know how to lead people, not just manage tasks
  • General working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Active fumigation license in the state of operation (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong organizational skills — you manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball
  • Proficiency in MS Office and comfort with technology (computers, networks, cameras, communication systems)
  • Ability to work with metal and metal fabrication tools
  • Solid understanding of profit margins and how operational decisions affect the bottom line
  • Ability to load trucks properly and operate rolling stock
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 140 feet with proper fall protection equipment
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs repeatedly; comfortable standing, walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
  • College degree in agriculture, business, or a related field
