Senior Accountant

Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to fill an opening with reputable and well-established manufacturing company that is based in Wixom, Michigan.

Requirements of the Senior Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 6+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting with progressive responsibilities
• Knowledge of GAAP
• History of job stability
• Knowledge of Multi-State, Sales & Use Tax filings
• Strong MS Excel and experience with ERP systems (Dynamics, SAP, Epicor or similar)
• Able to meet multiple concurrent deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant

• Governmental reporting: review of monthly sales tax filings; personal property tax returns; work papers for quarterly tax estimates; business registrations; census reports; support for tax audits.
• Financial statement preparation for review and reporting to parent company using HFM (Monthly reporting and annual reports).
• Become the point of contact for our Avalara sales tax software and subject matter expert on all sales and use tax questions.
• Reviewing expense account activity and discuss items with other departments and managers to understand account activity.
• Prepare and post month end closing entries.
• Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
• Interacting with, preparing schedules for and answering questions for various internal and external audits.
• Prepare and review sales reports for customer incentives and third-party commissions.
• Travel to out-of-state branch offices for annual physical inventory.
• Monthly sales file reconciliation.
• Prepare and review monthly commission statements.
• Support the accounting department with any ad hoc projects as assigned.
