Position: Diesel Mechanic - Full Time - Days Wixom

Overview

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with strong technical expertise and a passion for automotive mechanics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Repair and maintain various components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks.
  • Inspect and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns and prolong equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics to assist in troubleshooting and problem‑solving efforts.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and industry standards to perform repairs and maintenance tasks accurately and safely.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including mechanics, supervisors, and parts personnel, to coordinate work assignments and prioritize tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders regarding repair status, findings, and recommendations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical training in heavy‑duty mechanics preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a heavy‑duty mechanic preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty vehicles and equipment.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices used in the automotive/heavy‑duty repair industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
