Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Machine Tool Electrician to join our team in building, wiring, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and automated systems. This position involves interpreting electrical schematics, installing wiring systems, and ensuring machine tools are powered and function as designed. The ideal candidate will have experience in machine tool wiring, panel building, and hands-on knowledge of industrial automation components.
Key Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Wire control panels, junction boxes, motors, sensors, and other machine components.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, components, and equipment on Automotive tools and equipment, robotics, and other automated systems.
- Perform startup, I/O checks, and support machine debug.
- Route and terminate wiring to meet electrical code and internal quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with mechanical builders, engineers, and programmers to ensure seamless system integration.
- Document electrical changes and redline prints during build.
- Perform continuity checks and use test equipment (multimeter, megger, etc.) to ensure proper operation.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or electrical apprenticeship preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as an industrial or machine tool electrician.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 79) and standards.
- Proficient in using hand tools, conduit benders, crimpers, and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Familiarity with control systems including PLCs, VFDs, and safety relays.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel for onsite installations or service at customer locations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Fanuc controls.
- Experience with panel fabrication and industrial automation.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license a plus.
- Preferred to have knowledge with:
- ABB Robots
- Fanuc Robots
- Knowledge of Safety Circuits
- Knowledge of Analog Controls Signals
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products - Excel and Word
- Shop floor and machine build environment.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project deadlines.
