As a Parts Runner in our Parts & Inventory department, you will play a key support role in keeping our shop running smoothly and efficiently. Working full-time and hourly at our Oak Park location, you will be responsible for safely driving to pick up parts from vendors, verifying part numbers and quantities, and delivering those parts promptly to our shop team.
This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for candidates with no prior experience who are reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable driving locally on a daily basis. You will work closely with our technicians and parts staff to help ensure the right parts arrive at the right time, minimizing delays and supporting excellent service for our customers.
- Drive to local vendors and suppliers to pick up parts and materials as requested by the Parts & Inventory team
- Deliver parts promptly and safely to the shop and designated team members
- Verify and cross-check part numbers, descriptions, and quantities before leaving vendor locations
- Inspect parts for obvious damage or discrepancies and report any issues to the Parts & Inventory staff
- Follow daily pickup and delivery schedules to support efficient shop operations
- Maintain accurate basic records of pickups, deliveries, and any issues encountered
- Communicate clearly with parts staff, service advisors, and technicians regarding status of parts runs
- Operate company or assigned vehicle safely, following all traffic laws and company driving policies
- Assist with organizing, staging, or moving parts and inventory in the shop or storage areas as needed
- Support general parts department tasks as directed by the Parts & Inventory manager or supervisor
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Valid driver’s license with a clean or acceptable driving record
- Comfortable driving locally throughout the Oak Park area and surrounding communities
- Strong attention to detail, especially when checking and verifying part numbers and quantities
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions and schedules consistently
- Ability to lift, carry, and move parts and materials as needed (often up to 25–50 lbs)
- Basic organizational skills and the ability to keep track of multiple pickups and deliveries
- Professional and courteous attitude when interacting with vendors and internal staff
- Willingness to work full-time, hourly shifts as scheduled, which may include some flexibility based on shop needs
- No prior experience required; willingness to learn and follow established processes and safety procedures
