Accounts Receivable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support day-to-day receivables operations for a service-focused organization in Woburn, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage billing activity, apply incoming payments accurately, and maintain consistent follow-up on outstanding commercial accounts. The person in this role will help keep cash flow processes organized, resolve account discrepancies, and contribute to a dependable finance function.

Responsibilities:

- Generate and review customer invoices to ensure billing records are accurate, complete, and issued on schedule.

- Record incoming payments and post cash receipts to the appropriate customer accounts with close attention to detail.

- Monitor aging reports and conduct timely follow-up with commercial clients to collect overdue balances.

- Investigate payment issues, reconcile account differences, and coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing questions.

- Maintain organized accounts receivable documentation and update account activity to support accurate financial reporting.

- Communicate professionally with customers regarding payment status, remittance details, and outstanding balances.

- Support routine cash collection efforts by prioritizing delinquent accounts and tracking collection progress.

- Assist with receivables-related process updates or workflow changes as needed within the department. Requirements - Experience handling accounts receivable tasks in a business or service environment.

- Working knowledge of commercial collections practices and customer account follow-up.

- Ability to process cash applications accurately and match payments to open invoices.

- Familiarity with billing functions, account reconciliation, and receivables recordkeeping.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and internal stakeholders.

- Proficiency with standard office and accounting software used for receivables processing.
