Glazing Estimator - Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Glass Estimator to join my clients construction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for commercial glass and glazing projects, ensuring all elements of the project scope are thoroughly reviewed and clearly defined. The ideal candidate will contribute to project success through precise cost analysis, effective coordination with internal teams, and strong communication with clients and trade partners.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile commercial projects while continuing to develop estimating, pricing, and cost-control expertise. Established relationships with local contractors are a plus. The estimator will assist the Senior Estimator on larger projects while independently bidding and managing estimates for assigned work.
Key Responsibilities- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop comprehensive glass and glazing estimates
- Prepare detailed bid proposals including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing using estimating software such as Heavy Bid and Bluebeam
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to obtain competitive pricing and negotiate favorable terms
- Evaluate scope changes and revise estimates as needed to maintain accuracy throughout the bidding process
- Assist with project scheduling and material procurement planning to support budget and timeline requirements
- Provide cost analysis and estimating support to project management teams during preconstruction and execution phases
- Participate in site visits as required to evaluate field conditions that may impact project pricing or constructability
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with estimating software, including Heavy Bid and Bluebeam
- Strong understanding of construction estimating principles, cost control, and pricing strategies
- Knowledge of commercial construction processes, site operations, and safety standards
- Effective negotiation skills with the ability to balance cost, quality, and project objectives
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams
