The MEP Coordinator supports project teams by managing the development, review, and coordination of 3D plumbing and HVAC models. This role ensures that design information is accurate, clash-free, and ready for prefabrication and installation. Working closely with BIM specialists, Project Managers, and field leadership, the MEP Coordinator helps align model deliverables with project requirements, schedule milestones, and construction sequencing.
Key Responsibilities Modeling & Coordination- Develop, update, and maintain 3D plumbing and HVAC models to align with project drawings, specifications, and coordination requirements.
- Identify clashes, discrepancies, or dimensional conflicts between trades and communicate solutions to project teams.
- Collaborate with BIM personnel, project engineers, and field supervisors to ensure coordinated routing and installation feasibility.
- Prepare coordinated spool drawings and layout information to support prefabrication and field installation.
- Review coordinated models for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with installation standards.
- Support the creation and distribution of coordinated shop drawings, installation drawings, and field packets.
- Maintain drawing logs, version tracking, and updated file structures throughout the duration of the project.
- Prepare coordination meeting agendas, notes, and model-based visuals when supporting PMs and coordination teams.
- Participate in coordination meetings with other trades, designers, and project stakeholders.
- Communicate clashes, design issues, and required clarifications to the Project Manager and Coordination Manager.
- Work with field leadership to verify installation conditions, incorporate field input, and adapt models as needed.
- Provide detailed layout information, hanger locations, elevations, and routing to support field installation.
- Assist prefabrication teams with model-based dimensioning, spool breakdowns, and material schedules.
- Conduct occasional site walks to validate existing conditions and ensure model accuracy.
- Ensure all coordinated models meet company standards for quality, accuracy, and drawing format.
- Maintain strict adherence to project documentation requirements and revision control.
- Support closeout by helping generate updated as-built models and drawing packages.
- Experience with mechanical coordination, BIM, or 3D modeling in plumbing/HVAC construction.
- Proficiency with relevant modeling software such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, or Fabrication CADmep (training available for motivated candidates).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, schematics, and coordinated models.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other MEP trades.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
