OverviewWe are seeking a System Security Engineer to support the design, assessment, and protection of secure embedded and real‑time systems. The role focuses on applying System Security Engineering (SSE), cybersecurity principles, and Anti‑Tamper methodologies across complex hardware, software, and system architectures.
This engineer will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system protection requirements are met throughout the development lifecycle. The position requires strong analytical skills, hands‑on technical experience, and the ability to work with sensitive system information under strict security controls.
Key Responsibilities- Apply System Security Engineering (SSE) and cybersecurity principles to embedded and real‑time systems
- Support development of security requirements, assessments, architecture inputs, and protection strategies
- Perform or support reverse engineering, vulnerability analysis, and Anti‑Tamper evaluations
- Contribute to secure design, implementation, and testing activities for hardware and software systems
- Support the creation and maintenance of security documentation, including technical assessments, risk reports, and compliance artifacts
- Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and cybersecurity teams to ensure security requirements are implemented and validated
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and system integration activities
- Support secure configuration management practices and adherence to program security policies
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 5+ years of prior relevant engineering experience
- Experience working in at least one of the following domains:
- System Security Engineering
- Cybersecurity (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). system protection/security
- Computer technology reverse engineering
- Strong understanding of secure system design principles
- Demonstrated experience evaluating or protecting hardware/software systems
- Ability to start with an active Secret clearance (transferable)
- Experience applying security engineering across complex embedded, software, or hardware systems
- Familiarity with DoD security frameworks, system protection policies, or certification requirements
- Experience with vulnerability analysis tools or embedded cybersecurity assessment
- Understanding of system‑level requirements, specifications, and security control implementation
- Experience supporting technical reviews, audits, or compliance documentation
- Ability to work within interdisciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
- Onsite, collaborative engineering environment
- Frequent interaction with systems, security, software, and hardware engineering teams
- Requires strong communication and the ability to work on sensitive, security‑relevant tasks
