Position SummaryVerdox seeks to hire a highly motivated EHS / Lab Manager to support laboratory and prototyping activities, ranging from safety compliance to facilities maintenance, to equipment and supply purchasing.
Key Responsibilities- Manage lab and site safety in compliance with applicable regulations, with a focus on chemical, materials, and electrical safety
- Coordinate safety, health, and environmental training for employees
- Develop and implement safety procedures and policies for wet lab, shop, and office areas at headquarters
- Manage chemical inventory, ensuring proper storage, handling, use, and disposal of chemicals, compressed gases, and other lab materials
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment through oversight of permits, EHS documentation, and other regulatory compliance items
- Support facility expansion and scale‑up activities, including chemistry scale‑up, engaging and managing contractors and consultants when necessary
- Ensure proper supply of materials and personal protective equipment (PPE) for headquarters
- Ensure proper maintenance, usage, and installation of lab equipment and supplies, including appropriate scheduled/preventative maintenance and calibration of lab equipment
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, laboratory technology, or related field with at least 5 years of experience supporting or working in a lab
- Experience as safety lead in environments where potentially hazardous chemicals and gases are regularly used
- Experience scaling up chemistry and knowledge of safe procedures for taking small batches to multi‑liter reactors
- Functional understanding of relevant laboratory safety standards and regulations
- Ability to identify, own, and complete tasks with little to no direction
- Willingness to work and contribute in areas outside of core competencies to meet the company’s immediate needs
