As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
• Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer’s approved equivalent
• Coordinating with customer safety representatives, applying methods, standards, and techniques to clarify system requirements for software, hardware, and test personnel; ensuring design, architecture considerations are allocated to the system and integrated horizontally across development teams
• Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
• Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls
• Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
• Performing system safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
• Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
• Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
• Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the system safety program
• Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
• Interfacing with other engineering functions:
  Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Hardware Engineering
• Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and customer representatives

• Typical requirement:
  Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
• Experience with risk assessment concepts such as those in MIL-STD 882E
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required

• Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses (management, analysis, evaluation, and verification)
• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs, e.g., MIL-STD-882 / DO-178
• Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing analyses relevant to the system safety program
• Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations
• Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines
• Experience interfacing with other engineering functions:
  Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
• Experience managing Working Groups
• Active and transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance
