Systems Engineer II
The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars and Sensors Center is seeking a talented Systems Engineer II to join our Radar Performance and Analysis team supporting the AN/TPY-2 missile defense radar program. This position will be onsite in Woburn, MA. The AN/TPY-2 radar is a state-of-the-art missile defense system operating in the X-band, with a flawless performance record against ballistic missiles.
In this role, you will evaluate radar data, conduct end-to-end performance assessments, and manage system requirements. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting Key Performance Metrics (KPMs) and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs), ensuring the radar meets stringent tactical mission objectives. Through your engineering expertise, you will develop automated data-processing workflows and analytical models to transform complex sensor outputs into actionable engineering insights.
What You Will Do
- Parse, process, and analyze raw sensor data, tracks, and detections to evaluate algorithm performance, target discrimination, and tracking accuracy.
- Conduct scenario-based analysis to identify and resolve technical observations.
- Perform system performance assessments and validation testing to ensure compliance with requirements and specifications.
- Lead system-level requirements analysis, decomposition, and traceability, managing the full verification and validation (V&V) lifecycle.
- Establish, monitor, and report on KPMs and TPMs, proactively identifying performance trends, variances, and system risks.
- Develop and maintain robust MATLAB and Python scripts to automate large-scale data ingestion, statistical modeling, and performance report generation.
- Translate complex data findings into clear technical presentations, dashboards, and documentation for program leadership and military stakeholders.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in test methodology, data analysis, scripting, and/or software development.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, Perl, C/C++, Unix, and/or Linux.
