Role and LocationSystem Safety Engineer (Onsite). The role is based in Massachusetts with onsite locations in Woburn, Tewksbury, Marlborough, Andover, MA or Portsmouth, RI.
Responsibilities- Support the execution of the safety strategy for the program to meet milestones with system safety features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and funding.
- Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
- Engage with the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact reviews, and customer reviews.
- Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure system safety considerations are addressed and to understand program-wide issues.
- Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.
- Analyze engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
- Collaborate with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code.
- Participate in the execution of the Software System Safety Program.
- Interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
- Assist with software safety technical reviews.
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Collaborate across disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design.
- You Must Have: Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Qualifications We Prefer: Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses (task series 100/200/300/400), experience preparing internal and customer reports, experience writing technical reports and presentations, experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety, and experience collaborating across multiple disciplines. Experience interfacing with Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Hardware Engineering. Experience managing Working Groups.
