Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by independently performing mammographic examinations in accordance to department protocols and ACR imaging standards and safety standards, using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, PACS, and other related medical imaging equipment. This professional technologist position will impact quality, safety, and the patient experience.
Education:
Required:
Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology and/or appropriate training to obtain license
Required:
At least 1 year as a radiologic technologist including training in mammography
Required:
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and hospital team members for safety and quality reasons
Certifications:
Required:
ARRT certified and registered radiographer and mammographer;
Massachusetts DPH Radiation Control Program Radiography and Mammography License
Basic Life Support

- Reports to the Breast Care Center Manager
- Not responsible for supervising others
Employees must be flexible to meet patients’ and hospital needs, responding to unanticipated and changing situations, potentially assuming additional responsibilities.
- Greet, assess, educate, and ensure patient comfort and safety during mammography procedures.
- Complete patient history questionnaires and enter data into Meditech.
- Assist patients with disrobing, maintaining privacy and modesty.
- Adjust equipment and patient positioning to optimize exam results.
- Educate patients and families throughout the process.
- Accurately document examinations and charges.
- Manage images and data in PACS.
- Maintain department records and logs for quality and safety.
- Ensure a clean, safe work environment and proper equipment maintenance.
- Transport and assist patients as needed.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team, following protocols and feedback.
- Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Coordinate staffing and schedule with supervisor.
- Prepare for and assist with mammography-guided procedures.
- Participate in department accreditation maintenance.
- Must possess physical and mental abilities to perform duties using WE CARE behaviors.
- Potential contact with infectious materials and exposure to radiation.
- May need to wear lead aprons for extended periods.
All staff must be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
