Principal Windows System Administrator
Overview
:
Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows, VMware, and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. Support multiple data centers, maintain network services (DNS, DHCP, AD), perform server replication, backup, recovery, and application configuration. Work with cybersecurity professionals to meet security requirements and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance.
- Provide daily checks in multiple data centers.
- Apply troubleshooting techniques to resolve moderate‑to‑high complexity technical problems, including integration of hardware OS and program‑specific software.
- Use and maintain Linux backup technologies and storage solutions.
- Install and configure software applications requested by end users.
- Document and train on advanced IT processes and procedures.
- Work 24x7 as required; occasional overtime and up to 10% domestic travel.
- Maintain and and obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140/8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) within 6 months of start date.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/b maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance.
- University degree in a related field or equivalent experience with 5+ years of prior relevant experience (or advanced degree with 3+ years).
- Experience with Windows Active Directory, VMware, system administration, backup, and recovery.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server internals and Linux fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, AD).
- Interim security clearance required prior to start date.
- DoDD 8140/8570 certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) and an Operating System Certification.
- Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS, and/or DoD/RMF.
- Experience with NAS, SAN, and other data storage technologies.
- Experience with IT project lifecycle management processes.
- Experience using VMware vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, and other virtualization technologies.
- Experience supporting engineers in software, simulation, and hardware development.
- Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and/or Exchange.
- Experience with AIX, high‑performance computing (HPC) in Linux, and scripting.
