Senior Category Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to join American Tower's Supply Chain team. The team strategically sources quality materials, services, and technologies at the lowest total cost while enabling effective and efficient purchasing solutions and enhancing supplier partnerships. You will play a critical role in managing sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and contract negotiations for key, complex categories. The Senior Category Manager will deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions to support our mission of leading the industry.

  • Lead complex categories of spend across multiple business units or geographies, including high-value, high-risk, or strategically critical areas.
  • Provide expertise to global leaders to ensure broad alignment on cost management, including sourcing and demand optimization opportunities.
  • Develop category strategies that contemplate the supplier landscape, demand profile, optimal pricing structures, service levels, scope definition, and other items that contribute to achieving the best possible services/products, supplier performances, and cost profiles.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that deliver enterprise-wide value, innovation, and risk mitigation.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with product and services suppliers by managing supplier relationships and ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Drive savings and efficiencies in the sourcing process, identify opportunities for mitigating risks, and ensure compliance.
  • Partner with the Legal, Finance, and other departments to align sourcing with business needs and manage end-to-end supply chain processes.
  • Implement process improvements and use data to optimize both supplier performance and supply chain strategies.
  • Provide thought leadership in supplier strategy, operations, innovation, and efficiency improvements in the applicable category.
  • Conduct business reviews with strategic suppliers, measure performance, and establish plans for continuous improvements.
  • Prepare analytics, metrics, and dashboards to demonstrate business problems, solutions, and benefits for the supplier management team.
  • Ensure that agreement terms and conditions are thoroughly reviewed and documented and that risks are mitigated.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree required with a concentration in Engineering, Business, or Supply Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of sourcing and contract negotiation experience required, preferably in a supply chain position.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships for individual requirements and within a fixed contract required.
  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office Suite and advanced skill level with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required.
  • Bilingual/multilingual fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English required, with the ability to communicate effectively with global suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with procurement platforms (e.g., Oracle, Salesforce).
  • Experience negotiating and creating value in situations with limited traditional leverage.
  • Professional certifications strongly preferred (Certified Property Manager, Certified Professional in Supply Management, or Certified in Planning and Inventory Management).
  • Approximately 5% travel may be required to support the position's responsibilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon time frames through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
