Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Project Engineering Co-Op, Fall 2026

Candidates must be local the Boston, MA area for consideration.

About This Role

This is a hands‑on, learning‑focused co‑op for an engineering student who wants to go beyond the classroom and see how a real manufacturing operation plans, executes, and improves. You won't be shadowing from the sidelines — you'll be doing real work that matters.

As our Project Engineering Co‑Op, you'll be embedded with our Project Engineering team during a critical period of process development and standardization. You'll help us document how we work, improve how we plan, and keep our ERP data clean and reliable — work that directly enables our engineers to focus on execution, customer support, and growth.

This is a great opportunity for an aspiring engineer or operations professional to gain direct exposure to manufacturing planning, ERP systems, and process improvement in an active production environment.

What You'll Do
  • You'll observe and map current‑state planning workflows, draft and update SOPs, checklists, and job aids, and help maintain a shared documentation library that the whole team can rely on. You'll participate in after‑action reviews, capture lessons learned and track open improvement actions to keep progress moving.

  • Under supervision, you'll enter and update Customer Purchase Order (CPO) details in Pro Shop ERP, perform data quality audits, and help ensure planning records are accurate, complete, and consistent.

  • You'll assist in building and updating manufacturing plans — populating operation descriptions, Bill of Materials, routing information, and part‑level documentation — and help establish standards that reduce rework and inconsistency across programs.

  • You'll monitor schedule status for assigned jobs, flag potential delays with supporting detail, and help prepare internal status updates and summaries for review before distribution.

  • You'll help generate purchasing demand in Pro Shop ERP, track open purchasing actions, and communicate status to prevent material‑related schedule delays.

  • You'll support day‑to‑day customer and program management activities — including supplier deviation requests, customer action item tracking, RFQ handoff coordination, and program status communication.

  • You'll attend meetings across manufacturing, quality, engineering, and procurement — taking notes, distributing summaries, and helping the team stay aligned.

What You Can Expect To Learn
  • How to navigate and manage data inside a manufacturing ERP system (Pro Shop), including CPO entry, BOM management, routing, and audit processes

  • How manufacturing plans are built, structured, and maintained in an active production environment

  • How to write and maintain SOPs, checklists, and job aids that a real team depends on

  • How to identify a problem, propose a solution, and drive it through to implementation

  • How to communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders on program status and action items

  • How cross‑functional teams — engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and quality — coordinate in a precision manufacturing environment

  • How process improvement methodologies like Lean, PDCA, and Kaizen are applied in practice, not just in theory

What We're Looking For
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field

  • Foundational coursework in manufacturing processes, operations management, supply chain, or quality systems is preferred

  • Basic exposure to process improvement concepts (Lean, 5S, PDCA, Kaizen) through coursework or experience is a plus

  • Familiarity with SOP writing, process mapping, or work instruction development is helpful, but not required

  • Prior internship, co‑op, or manufacturing work experience is a plus — but not required

  • Detail‑oriented and accurate when working with data and documentation

  • A clear, organized writer who can make complex things easy to follow

  • Genuinely curious about how manufacturing operations work

  • Comfortable asking questions, learning from experienced engineers, and taking ownership of your work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and…
