Job Description Boyd Thermal by Eaton is currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at our Woburn, MA facility. Eaton is a global leader in intelligent power management, serving customers in more than 160 countries. Following our recent acquisition of Boyd Corporation’s aerospace and defense business, we are expanding our capabilities in high-performance thermal management solutions. The Woburn facility specializes in the design and manufacturing of Aluminum Vacuum Brazed Heat Exchangers and Cold Plates for critical aerospace and defense applications.
We are seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Supervisor to ensure maximum equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support continuous production excellence.
The Maintenance Supervisor will lead the day‑to‑day maintenance operations at the Woburn site, reporting to the Process Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for maintaining and optimizing all manufacturing equipment, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and driving a culture of safety and reliability in support of high‑precision aerospace manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & ReliabilitySupervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing equipment (vacuum brazing furnaces, CNC machines, machining centres, and supporting systems). Utilize FIXX CMMS software to schedule, track, and document all maintenance activities, including work orders, spare parts inventory, and equipment history. Focus on improving equipment uptime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Preventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime. Introduce predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.) where applicable.
Troubleshooting & RepairProvide hands‑on leadership during equipment breakdowns, rapidly diagnosing issues and coordinating repairs to minimize production impact. Support root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures in collaboration with the Process Engineering team.
Safety and ComplianceChampion a strong safety culture, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, Eaton EHS standards, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
Team Leadership & DevelopmentRecruit, train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance technicians. Develop technical skills within the team, including equipment‑specific training for brazing and precision machining systems.
Continuous ImprovementParticipate in Tier II and Tier III meetings to report on maintenance performance and contribute to site‑wide improvement initiatives. Work closely with Process Engineering and Production teams to support process optimization and new equipment installation.
Inventory & Budget ManagementManage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are available while controlling costs. Assist in developing and managing the maintenance department budget.
BasicRequired Qualifications
A minimum of eight (8) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a lead or Supervisor. Experience with industrial equipment such as vacuum furnaces, CNC machinery, and precision machining tools. Proven experience with CMMS systems.
