Job DescriptionAs Application Scientist within the Application Development Group, you will play a pivotal role in the internal development, external support, and commercial expansion of Covaris solutions. This interdisciplinary role requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic collaboration, working across R&D, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, and Product Management. You will drive the adoption of our proprietary Adaptive Focused Acoustics (AFA) technology by developing robust workflows and supporting the full product lifecycle from early evaluation to global launch.
This interdisciplinary, multi-faceted position offers a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing company, and the opportunity to work as part of a strong international team. This position is ideal for an individual with expertise across different workflows, excellent writing skills, and the drive to create a state-of-the-art process and culture.
- Partner with BD, Marketing, Sales, and Product Management on New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by leading activities related to pre-commercial initiatives such as the Early Evaluation or Early Access Programs.
- Plan and execute high-impact workflow demonstrations to help adopt new product offerings.
- Provide critical technical support for commercial product and instrument launch activities.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the Field Application Scientist (FAS) team and Sales Territory Managers.
- Work closely with the Automation team to integrate diverse workflows onto automated platforms.
- Contribute to technical assessments, site visits, and demonstrations to assist customers in adopting new Covaris solutions.
- Partner with Marketing and R&D to create technical content, white papers, and collateral in support of new products.
- Provide scientific support and present findings at major industry conferences.
- Troubleshooting for basic mechanical operation and application software.
- Literacy and compliance in working within a regulated ISO-13485 environment.
- Ph.D. in Physical-chemistry, Analytical Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. M.Sc. with relevant experience will be considered.
- Specialized knowledge in Genomics or Epigenomics is highly preferred, while proficiency in Proteomics, Metabolomics, or Transcriptomics is valuable.
- Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience in sample preparation workflows.
- Proven track record with diverse methodologies for the extraction of DNA, RNA, or Proteins from various biological matrices.
- Practical experience with Epigenomics-specific workflows, Library Preparation, and Sequencing technologies is strongly preferred.
- Background in Technical Sales Support, product/protocol development, and the ability to travel up to 30% for customer site visits and conferences.
- Strong understanding of applied statistics, Design of Experiments (DOE), and the ability to prioritize complex tasks and timelines.
- Exceptional technical writing, oral presentation, and content creation skills for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $100,000 plus 10% bonus. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
