Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Animal Technician to join our Woburn in‑vivo research team. In this role, you will provide daily husbandry, care, and monitoring for colonies of research rodents, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, facility cleanliness, and data integrity in accordance with IACUC guidelines, SOPs and PHS policy.
Key Responsibilities- Receive, identify and house research rodents; prepare cage cards per study protocols.
- Perform daily husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, health checks and enrichment.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, environmental conditions and facility operations.
- Clean, sanitize and maintain cages, racks and equipment following SOPs.
- Assist with breeding colony management, genotyping sample collection and record updates.
- Support research procedures including injections, blood and tissue collection and euthanasia under supervision.
- Conduct environmental and microbiological monitoring (e.g., RODAC, PCR sample collection).
- Maintain inventory of feed, bedding, enrichment and general vivarium supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, biosecurity and regulatory requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or ALAT certification preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience handling rodents in a research or animal care setting.
- Understanding of animal welfare regulations (IACUC, PHS Policy) and standard husbandry practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks safely.
- Dependable, self‑motivated and adaptable to changing research priorities.
- Team‑oriented with strong communication and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
