Position: XBR Release Train Engineer (RTE)

Release Train Engineer – X  Agile Release Train

We are seeking a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead the X  Agile Release Train, a multidisciplinary team of Systems, Software, Integration, and Test engineers. The RTE will co‑lead the ART alongside the Chief Product Owner and Cross Product Team leads to deliver tactical software and simulation capabilities for missile defense and sensor systems.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as servant‑based leader and coach for the ART, facilitating daily Scrum, program increment planning, and retrospectives.
  • Identify and remove blockers, coordinate Scrum of Scrums, and ensure teams follow agile methodologies.
  • Escalate issues to upper‑level leadership and track internal and external dependencies.
  • Partner with product owners to set clear scope, acceptance criteria, and delivery priorities that align with program goals.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives based on data‑driven insights and agile best practices.
  • Coach Agile team leaders and mentor teams through scaled agile frameworks such as SAFe.
  • Oversee staffing decisions, rotations, and rotations of Agile leaders in the ART.
  • Ensure compliance with contract deliverables and company practices while advancing program objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or related fields using MATLAB, C/C++, Ada, Java, or DOORS.
  • Proficiency with requirements and agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Prior experience leading or coaching in a large, scaled agile environment (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles, ceremonies, and data‑driven decision making.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across cross‑functional teams.
  • Additional preferred skills: missile‑defense program experience, data metric collection, prior Scrum Master or Product Owner role.
  • Security clearance:
    Ability to obtain interim U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship required.
