Shipping and Receiving Associate
Position Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Associate will be responsible for tasks related to the shipment and receipt of materials and goods. This includes packaging, labeling, prioritizing shipments, record keeping, scheduling pickups, and preparing bills of lading for freight companies.
- Label and package materials for shipment in cardboard boxes and wooden crates as required to safely ship packages to customers.
- Prepare shipping labels via UPS and Fed Ex, affixing shipping labels on packed cartons.
- Review current backlog to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Perform incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy.
- Transact shipping activities into the computer in a timely manner.
- Use hand jacks to lift and move materials to the stockroom or the next work area.
- Schedule pickups and prepare bill of lading for freight companies.
- Prioritize daily tasks and make changes to priorities independently.
- Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately and on time.
- Communicate well between departments, notifying leaders and engineers to problem‑solve issues.
- Actively support and participate with 5S, High Performance Teams, and LEAN strategies.
- Use appropriate PPE for designated area.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a shipping or receiving department.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficient in basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to organize tasks effectively and communicate clearly in both verbal and written English.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask are highly preferred.
- Completion of forklift training required within 6 months of the start date.
- Must be certified in DOT and IATA training or be willing to complete this training within 6 months of hire for the Woburn location.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or have U.S. Permanent Resident Status.
- Pay Range: $20.50/hr to $33.50/hr
