Mechanical Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an NVQ Level 3 qualified Plumber to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Coldingley, a category C, adult male prison. The role is Monday to Friday, supporting a safe, secure and respectful environment.

• Maintain heating, water, and building services systems within a prison environment as part of the Mechanical Engineering/Facilities Maintenance Team.
• Install, inspect, repair and maintain plumbing and related systems to ensure compliance with Water Supply Regulations and Legionella (L8) requirements.
• Contribute to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs and uphold health and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, and other professionals to deliver safe and reliable facilities services.
• Support safe prison operations and contribute to rehabilitation-focused outcomes where applicable.
• Follow MOJ/GFSL policies and procedures and work within a regulated environment.

• NVQ Level 3 in Domestic Plumbing and Heating or an equivalent combination of qualifications (e.g., Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance) with related registration (e.g., 600/6863/2; 600/2253/X).
• Minimum two years' experience as a plumber or in an equivalent role on commercial/industrial heating, water, or building services systems.
• Knowledge of Water Supply Regulations and Legionella (L8) requirements.
• Good working knowledge of planned preventive maintenance (PPM) operations and health and safety requirements.

Holidays are 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays.
