Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.40 Hourly
JOB SUMMARYThe primary responsibility of the Poultry Care Supervisor is managing the day-to-day activities of the Poultry Care Attendants (PCA), and leading work functions in the care of the pullets or layers. This includes assisting with bird moves, vaccinations, feeding, and overseeing the general well‑being of the layers and/or pullets. This also involves assisting the Poultry Production Manager in providing the PCAs with effective performance feedback.

The job responsibilities of the Poultry Care Supervisor are:
- Scheduling and task management for all Poultry Care Attendant direct reports. Approval of time cards.
- Monitor workers to insure proper handling of the layers and/or pullets at all times.
- Checkout of poultry housing systems (Feed, Lights, Air, Water, Sanitation, FLAWS) to ensure that all systems are working properly.
- Ensuring that procedures and processes related to poultry husbandry are being followed at all times.
- Monitoring animal health, keep current on accepted practices and methods relating to animal health.
- Lead by example, look for ways to improve practices.
- Look for opportunities to improve safety and inform Safety Manager of potential hazards.
- Acts as a team player (supports and encourages co‑workers); treats management, co‑workers, and employees with respect.
- Monitor all records for mortality and chore check lists for completion of tasks. Keep paperwork up-to-date. Order supplies as needed.
- May assist with bird weighing, and moving birds when necessary. Schedule appropriate help for those tasks.
- Assist in monitoring AEI/PMSI/Pulse control systems.
- May be responsible for responding to alarms.
- Assist in working with processing in monitoring/controlling egg flow.
- Perform other duties as requested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Poultry Care Supervisor will be an effective communicator, communicating with the Poultry Production Manager, Director of Poultry Management, or the Site Manager in matters pertaining to production planning, farm and flock performance, animal health and nutrition management decisions. The Poultry Care Supervisor also needs to have:
- Be comfortable with current technology including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong background in poultry care and animal management
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare standards and biosecurity
- General knowledge of the regulations and standards for Safe Quality Foods, OSHA, HAACP, Eggland’s Best, FDA, Animal Care standards, and USDA
- Uncompromised ethics and integrity
- Possess a high degree of initiative
- Demonstrates commitment to continued professional growth and development
- Minimum of two years of experience in poultry care is required
- Associate’s Degree in Animal Science, or related field is a plus
- Two years of relevant leadership experience is preferred
