This programme is designed to give you the practical skills, qualifications, and personal development needed to become a fully qualified Painter & Decorator.

You’ll be supported throughout your journey with structured training, hands‑on experience, and guidance from experienced professionals, helping you grow and reach your full potential.

• Rates of pay: £8.00 per hour, with annual increases
• Potential salary earnings once qualified: £32k
• Working hours:
  
  39 per week (Mon‑Fri), inclusive of day release
• Days holiday & Bank Holidays: 23

As an apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople carrying out refurbishment work in customers’ homes. The focus of the role is delivering high‑quality internal and external painting works in customers’ homes.

• Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use, store and maintain them safely, and the reaction of materials to atmospheric conditions – Product & Specifications
• Gain expert knowledge of product types, drying, curing, effects of colour, interpreting specifications and colour choices – Preparation & Removal
• Learn preparation methods both traditional and modern, techniques of application, removal, wallpaper hanging and identifying substrates – Health & Safety
• To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace, including handling hazardous substances – Teamwork
• The role will give the skills and abilities to not only be part of a team but to play an active role within a busy team – Stakeholder Management

• Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers

• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4–9 / A–C) – not essential
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
• Enjoyment of practical, physical work
• Reliability as a team player

Please note:

This apprenticeship is not suitable for candidates who already hold (or are studying towards) a Level 2 qualification in painting.

A DBS check will also be required.
