Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Logistics Sales Individual to join our team. This role focuses on expanding our customer base while delivering customized logistics solutions. The position reports to a General Manager.
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to lead the expansion of our air freight division and drive growth beyond its current plateau. This role requires full ownership of initiatives—from strategic planning through execution—with a strong focus on transformation, commercial strategy, and business development.
Current Business Environment
- Approximately 99% of air export volume is Japan-bound.
- 60–70% of total air freight revenue (exports + imports) depends on 2–3 major customers.
- Air imports are handled entirely on a spot basis with no regular consolidation schedules.
- Nearly 99% of import volume originates from Japan, creating heavy reliance on Japan-based rate setting and sales activity.
- Competitive pricing challenges compared to large forwarders limit new customer acquisition.
- The U.S. operation currently lacks distinctive advantages in systems, proprietary facilities, or operations.
What We Are Looking For
- A self-driven leader who can challenge the status quo and create new growth opportunities.
- Someone capable of independently designing and executing strategies.
- Strong commercial mindset with experience in air freight, business development, or operations.
Responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new business opportunities through prospecting and relationship development.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients, serving as a trusted advisor for their logistics needs.
- Develop and deliver tailored proposals and presentations.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing to secure profitable deals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of logistics services.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
- Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to management.
- Support business development and strategic initiatives aligned with air freight growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in logistics sales, including ocean freight, domestic transportation, and warehousing.
- Strong ability to acquire new customers and build pipelines directly with shippers or key decision-makers.
- Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems preferred.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and international shipping processes is a plus.
- Experience in air freight sales or operations strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing network of shippers and logistics industry contacts.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Requires some domestic travel (10–20%) and occasional international travel for client meetings and industry events.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years of logistics industry sales experience.
Language Requirements
- English only (read, write, speak). Must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken form.
- 401(k) with employer match
- Paid vacation and sick leave
- 14 paid holidays
