Overview
Data Engineer — 3 months. Position is remote (can be in any 20 states in Great Midwest area). Wooddale, IL area is the preferred location.
Temp to Perm role
Responsibilities- Dashboard & Reporting Development:
Support and enable the development of Business Intelligence and Data Science solutions, design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, etc.) for customer performance, financial, and operational insights. - Develop algorithms and processes to transform data into useful, actionable information.
- Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and visualization consistency across platforms.
- Automate recurring reporting processes to improve efficiency and timeliness.
- Operational Workflow Automation & Data Engineering:
Understand requirements from operational and business teams to identify automation opportunities and streamline manual processes. - Develop and optimize digital workflows for client onboarding, approval processes, and reporting using tools (such as UiPath, Power Automate, Alteryx, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms).
- Manage data pipelines and integrations between multiple systems (UiPath, CRM, ERP, Salesforce, and reporting platforms).
- Ensure data governance, compliance, and quality across all sources.
- Data Analysis & AI Integration:
Use artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to identify emerging trends, anomalies, and patterns in customer and financial data to create actionable insights. - Provide data-driven recommendations to highlight opportunities, risks, and areas that need attention.
- Collaborate with business and customer teams to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Work closely with business teams (Customer Solutions, Commercial, Billing, Finance, National teams) to understand business needs and deliver impactful technical data & digitized solutions for internal teams and external customer experience.
- Collaborate with other IT software engineers, architects, and national RPA/AI teams to bring new perspectives to complex business problems.

- Project Ownership & Delivery:
Take initiative in discussions, seek to understand business challenges, and proactively propose data-driven or automation-based solutions. - Operate with a high degree of self-motivated autonomy; seek problems to solve and drive solutions.
- Manage and prioritize projects independently end to end from scoping to delivery, feedback loop, and timelines; adapt to changing priorities.
- Quick agile product rollout, test, learn, and continuously improve with stakeholder feedback.
Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- Strong experience in functional requirements gathering via stakeholder interviewing to understand business needs and translate to technical solutions timely.
- 3-5 years of experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Alteryx, UiPath).
- 3-5 years of experience in cloud-based data warehouses (Snowflake, Google Big Query, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.).
- Strong proficiency in Tableau/Power BI for dashboard creation and storytelling.
- Proficient in Python or R for data analysis/science and workflow automation.
- Proficient experience with SQL, ETL processes, and data modeling (integrating data from multiple sources into one, such as spreadsheets, Salesforce, databases, Excel, etc.).
- Exposure to version control systems (Git, SVN).
- Understanding of and willingness to embrace Agile Project Management.
- Self-motivated and autonomous—takes ownership, stays focused, and completes projects with limited supervision.
- Curiosity & analytical mind—ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and practices.
- Collaborative, proactive problem solver, adaptable & agile, results-oriented, customer-focused.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; prioritization and flexibility to business needs.
