Overview
The Quality Technician ensures the integrity of high‑precision components by merging technical expertise in CNC Swiss‑style machining with rigorous quality engineering standards. This role is responsible for real‑time quality monitoring, administrative precision in documentation, and managing the shop’s technical inspection toolkit. Following an "Adapt then Optimize" philosophy, you will master existing standards to protect consistency before driving meaningful process improvements.
Compensation$20-30/hr based on experience
Responsibilities1. Technical Inspection & Programming
- Advanced Programming: Program and operate CMM and Keyence vision systems to validate complex part geometries.
- First‑Article Inspection (FAI): Validate the first parts off the machine after new setups to ensure process stability.
- Technical Verification: Perform precision measurements using manual tools, including micrometers, profilometers, and go/no‑go gaging.
- Gage Calibration: Manage the calibration and maintenance of all shop inspection gaging to ensure measurement accuracy.
- Documentation: Prepare FAI and PPAP submissions, interpreting customer specifications for full compliance.
- Change Management: Manage quality updates during engineering changes, ensuring technical prints and inspection plans are accurate and organized.
- Process Control: Monitor SPC and tool wear trends to predict and prevent defects.
- Compliance Support: Assist with ISO 9001 / AS 9100 audits and maintain environmental documentation (REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals).
- Root Cause Analysis: Participate in defect analysis using methodologies like 8D and FMEA

- The Feedback Loop: Act as a link between the Quality Lab and the Shop Floor, translating complex data into actionable feedback for Setup Technicians and Operators.
- Troubleshooting: Assist in identifying whether "out‑of‑tolerance" conditions are tool‑related, thermal, or programming‑based.
- Operator Empowerment: Train operators on manual gauge usage and blueprint interpretation to foster a "Quality at the Source" mindset.
- Authority: Maintain the authority to pause production runs for non‑conformance in coordination with the Engineering team.
- Experience: 3+ years in a CNC machining environment (Swiss turning preferred) with at least 1–2 years in a quality role within an ISO 9001 or AS 9100 environment.
- Technical Literacy: Expert ability to read complex engineering drawings and a deep understanding of GD&T.
- Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Experience with
Solidworks or Global Shop ERP is preferred. - Education: High School Diploma required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred. - Soft Skills: A detail‑obsessed organizer who remains calm and constructive under production pressure.
