Field Service Technician (Traveling)

Must be within 60 minutes of O'Hare Airport

Pay - 28-35/hour based on experience

We are seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair industrial sheet-metal fabrication equipment across customer sites. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, frequent travel, and a customer-first mindset. The technician will support equipment uptime, deliver technical training, and provide both on-site and remote support while collaborating with internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Core Responsibilities:

• Install, commission, and service industrial fabrication equipment at customer sites
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to optimize equipment reliability
• Provide technical support (on-site and phone/Help Desk) including warranty service
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and OEM specifications
• Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and electrical test equipment
• Train customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Document service activities, parts usage, and maintenance outcomes
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and service teams on field issues and improvements
• Travel to customer locations domestically (and occasionally internationally)

Required Qualifications:

• Located near Chicago, IL and within 1 hour of a major airport
• Ability to travel up to 100% (Mon-Fri) year-round
• Eligible to obtain a U.S. Passport
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced field environments
• Intermediate computer skills (service documentation, email, reporting)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
